Hold On – Part Two

December 26, 2014 By Tabitha Leave a Comment

Hold-On-2-Cover-167x250Merry Christmas! Last week (or was it the week before, I think I’ve lost track of what day is what over this holiday period), I published the second part of Hold On.

I’m sure most of you already know this, given that it’s already selling well. But I hadn’t yet announced it on my blog so, here is the announcement. Hold On 2 is up on Amazon. Ta da!

Hold On #2 on Amazon.com

I’ll be writing part 3 soon. It’s outlined in my head (although that doesn’t always translate to what I actually end up writing), but it will be out in January come hell or high water. (Um, just what is high water? Is it water that’s deep? Or like in a pool with a high wall or something? Or maybe it’s a tidal wave because that’d be pretty high. Or maybe it just means high tide or something? I don’t know.)

Anyway, after that, sometime before Valentine’s Day, I’ll publish the bundle and the print version for those that want that.

It’ll be exclusive to Amazon for the foreseeable future, so those with Kindle Unlimited (KU) can get it. I don’t like being exclusive, but I do like KU (for most of my stuff) so I guess I have to take the good with the bad.

Speaking of KU, I might have my updated thoughts on it coming in a later post. Maybe. Or not. What about you? Do you like KU or do you prefer to get your books on other stores?

Hold On – Part 1

November 19, 2014 By Tabitha 2 Comments

Hold-On-Cover-167x250I wrote a serial. I’m really excited about it, because it’s my first time writing with the first person present style. I found that I loved writing this way, as everything seems more urgent and real, and I could get into my characters head more and really bring out the emotion.

I know that not everyone loves serials because they hate cliffhangers (personally I love them), so if that’s you, you might want to wait until the whole series is finished and get the box set. I’m hoping to finish Part 2 in December and Part 3 in January. That means I’ll put out the box set sometime after that. I’m aiming for early February – just in time for Valentine’s day.

I’m not sure yet whether I’ll do a print version at this stage. I’ll decide once I see if the series is popular or not.

Anyway, here’s the blurb.

It’s currently 0.99 cents or free with Kindle Unlimited. Enjoy!

Blurb:

If there is a cardinal rule that everyone seeking a roommate would agree with, it’s that you don’t get involved with someone you live with. Too complicated.

But complicated doesn’t stop Sarah Bennet from agreeing to let the gorgeously sexy Ethan Collier move in. He’s everything she’s not – confident, charming and intense.

The attraction becomes even stronger when she learns about his dark past. She should be running away, but instead she finds herself running toward him.

Falling into bed with Ethan was easy, falling in love is another matter entirely. She’ll need to hold on tight, or this bad boy could break her apart completely.

a romance serial in progress

Eric Northman for no other reason but that he's a vampire and it's Halloween. You're welcome.
Eric Northman for no other reason but that he’s a vampire and it’s Halloween. You’re welcome.

Hello all to all readers of my blog, yes, all three of you … It’s Halloween night here in Oz and I’m feeling a little sugared out so thought, why not write a post on this blog of mine that isn’t telling you about a new book I’ve published and is more of my thoughts in general.

Specifically I wanted to talk about the romance serial. There’s a lot of them out there lately, isn’t there? I’ve just started reading them myself, and have found myself in a bit of reading lust with Deborah Bladon’s Vain trilogy.

What was it that I liked about it?
Hmm let’s see. Length? Check! (I’m a fan of the shorter style of works for both reading and writing). The price? Check! Can’t do better than the 0.99 cent price point (Hmm is that a hint current catalog of mine?).
The cliffhangers? Check! Ms Bladon certainly does them very well.
First person present tense? Check! Oooh I have to try it now.

So of course, all said plans of whatever I wanted to write next have gone by the wayside while I see if I can write my own serial. And do you know what? So far so good. I’m enjoying writing it and the story doesn’t suck (so far). So that’s always a plus.

I’m still early on in the process of course, (one third into the first book) and debating whether I wait until I finish the entire series before I publish or release them as I go. The reason for considering delaying is that I have a christmas series on another pen name that I have to get out before the big guy in the red suit comes down the chimney. I also have a non fiction book that I have to write before the new year.

That’s a lot to get done when you have little ones who don’t appreciate mum’s need to put fingers to keyboard every so often.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Romance serials. Specifically those ones about novella length that end in cliffhangers. Do you like them? Hate them? Can’t get enough of them?

I’d love to know your thoughts as I slog through my own attempt.

Peace

Do I have to have read the other books in this series first?

Nope. They are all standalones. There is crossover in that the characters do appear in other books, but if only one story takes your fancy, go right ahead.

Will there be any more books in the Bad Boys series?

Yes, but not until next year. I’m itching to work on a separate novella trilogy first, and after that’s up, I’ll probably write the fourth bad boys book: The Billionaire.

Are your books in Kindle Unlimited?

They are indeed. 🙂

Hope you like it. 🙂

It’s a contemporary spin on the old beast in the castle story. My goal was to make The Brute from book 1 into someone super sexy, and to create the perfect match for him. Belle was such fun to write, I loved her. I also introduce my next hottie (Colt) who’ll be the main love interest in book 3 (coming soon).

Check it out!

Will my books be on Kindle Unlimited?

July 21, 2014 By Tabitha Leave a Comment

Update: I’m going all in. Everything except the novella’s should be on KU now, the novella’s will be on next week after I make some cover tweaks. It’s scary going Amazon exclusive, but I’m going to give it a good six months to see if it was the right decision or not.

—

As soon as I heard about Kindle Unlimited I felt giddy with excitement. A chance for readers to devour as many books as they want in a month? Sounds fantastic. While I can’t partake as a reader (it’s currently only available to US customers), I certainly can offer my books in the pool of reading choice.

But to do so, I have to enrol them in Kindle Select, which means they need to be exclusive to Amazon for the enrolment period (90 days at a time). I’ve not been a fan of amazon’s exclusivity clause before now, but this new program has got me excited enough that I’m going to test it out.

I’ll be enrolling everything except the Desperately Delicious series of short stories (Update: Desperately Delicious is in now, too). That means my novels: Trance, The Feathered Lover, Feathered Bliss & A Feathered Child will be included, as will my novella’s The Brute and In His Sails. Also the new novella’s in the Bad Boys series (coming over the next few months) will also be enrolled.

Depending on how well they do (or don’t do) I’ll decide after the 90 day period whether to keep them in or put them back up at the other stores (Update: I’m giving it six months to be fair). Obviously I need to see what is best for me financially, but I also need to know what is best for readers, too. So I don’t know if I’ll continue at this stage, but I’m quietly optimistic. The Kindle Unlimited program just feels like it’ll be a success.

What about you. Do you like the KU program?

Tabitha 🙂
