Rock Solid – The Third Rock Star Romance Novel

February 17, 2017 By Tabitha Leave a Comment

Rock Solid is the third book in my rock star romance series. It’s probably also the last, making the series a trilogy, although there is always a possibility of more books in the future. I’m not sure yet if Leo (bass & keyboard player) needs his own story yet. I’ll see if it’s something you all want before I decide.

Anyway, what’s Rock Solid about?

The two main characters are band manager, Monty Keller and his estranged wife, Charlotte Keller. She’s been in England for the past five years looking after her sick parents. Monty stayed in LA to focus his attention on making The Soft Burns the biggest rock band he could make it.

Monty never told the guys in the band about Charlotte, so it’ll be a shock for them when they find out.

Leaving KDP Select to go Wide

October 20, 2016 By Tabitha Leave a Comment

As Rock Star 2 – Rock Hard is nearly finished and booked into the editor at the end of this month (deadlines!) that meant I had to think long and hard about whether to stay in KDP Select and launch on Amazon only, or if leaving KDP Select to go wide with the new book was a better choice.

I figured it was time to start testing out more marketplaces such as Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble, Kobo & Google Play. Especially as I’ve had lovely readers ask why they can’t find my books at these retail platforms.

Leaving KDP Select

For the last two years I’ve been exclusive to Amazon so that I can participate in their Select program. This allows you extra exposure by being in the KU lending library. You also get exclusive promotional tools, and a few other perks. It’s been a great ride, but over the past few months I’ve been thinking a lot about going wide again. Especially now that my catalog is expanding and I’m writing more novels rather than shorter works.

Rock Star 2 – It’s going well

September 5, 2016 By Tabitha Leave a Comment

Writing Rock Star 2 is going really well. The story is flowing at a rocking pace and I predict it’ll be done by next month. I’m over ten percent into the story based on the word count that I want to hit and I’m loving the chemistry between the two main characters.

This story is about Joey Turner, the drummer from The Soft Burns. He’s much more alpha and sure of himself than any other male lead I’ve written about so far. He’s more cocky than Stark (Rock Star 1), more arrogant than Ethan (Hold On), and super sexy. I had no idea how much I’d like him when I was writing Rock Star 1, but I think I might have a bigger crush on Joey than I did for Stark, and that’s staying a lot!

I’ve teamed him up with the fiery Emma. I can’t stay too much about her except that she’s both vulnerable and tough. She’s an excellent match for Joey who can be a bit too cocksure at times.

Anyway, I can’t wait to get it finished so that you can all read it and fall in love with him as much as I have.

Happy reading,

Tabs. xx

You cuss too much

February 21, 2015 By Tabitha Leave a Comment

I hear you dear readers. I’ve had reviews that have said I’ve used the f word too often in the Hold On series. So I checked. 124 occurrences. Yeah, I guess that was probably a bit of overkill.

Funnily enough, my goal when writing the Feathered series was to write it without using that word at all. Not once. So maybe I just overcompensated with this one?

Anyway, I’m taking it on board and will make sure the Rock Star series (haven’t started it yet), will have fewer occurrences of the f word. Not guaranteeing it won’t appear at all, but there certainly won’t be 124 of them.

Until then, stay gorgeous.

What’s Next?

February 14, 2015 By Tabitha Leave a Comment

I had so much fun writing Hold On as a serial. I just may be a new fan to the format. Plus, it’s been my best selling series so far, so there’s that.

Which means I need to figure out what I’m writing next.

I’ve got a few main story ideas running around in my head right now. A story with either Tessa (Sarah’s sister from Hold On) or Lauren (Sarah’s best friend from Hold On). Both of them have a lot of potential and I have parts of their stories already beginning to form in my mind.

I’m leaning more towards Lauren’s story, although if you have a preference on who you’d like to see, then please comment below.

If you’ll recall, Lauren had just started a new job as an entertainment reporter. I’d love to see her hook up with someone in the entertainment industry. I’m leaning toward a rock star bad boy, although a sexy actor could also work. Someone who’ll be able to keep up with her lust for love and life.

Another option for me is to put out another quick novella from the bad boys series. Since Fifty Shades is out at the moment, and The Billionaire was the next story I was planning to write for that series, I might start that instead. I’m not sure yet. I’ve got the whole Valentine’s day weekend to think about it before I start up writing again on Monday.

Speaking of which, happy V day. Hope you get lots of love and sexy times even if it’s only with your latest book boyfriend.

Love and kisses,

Tabs 🙂

a romance serial in progress

Eric Northman for no other reason but that he's a vampire and it's Halloween. You're welcome.
Eric Northman for no other reason but that he’s a vampire and it’s Halloween. You’re welcome.

Hello all to all readers of my blog, yes, all three of you … It’s Halloween night here in Oz and I’m feeling a little sugared out so thought, why not write a post on this blog of mine that isn’t telling you about a new book I’ve published and is more of my thoughts in general.

Specifically I wanted to talk about the romance serial. There’s a lot of them out there lately, isn’t there? I’ve just started reading them myself, and have found myself in a bit of reading lust with Deborah Bladon’s Vain trilogy.

What was it that I liked about it?
Hmm let’s see. Length? Check! (I’m a fan of the shorter style of works for both reading and writing). The price? Check! Can’t do better than the 0.99 cent price point (Hmm is that a hint current catalog of mine?).
The cliffhangers? Check! Ms Bladon certainly does them very well.
First person present tense? Check! Oooh I have to try it now.

So of course, all said plans of whatever I wanted to write next have gone by the wayside while I see if I can write my own serial. And do you know what? So far so good. I’m enjoying writing it and the story doesn’t suck (so far). So that’s always a plus.

I’m still early on in the process of course, (one third into the first book) and debating whether I wait until I finish the entire series before I publish or release them as I go. The reason for considering delaying is that I have a christmas series on another pen name that I have to get out before the big guy in the red suit comes down the chimney. I also have a non fiction book that I have to write before the new year.

That’s a lot to get done when you have little ones who don’t appreciate mum’s need to put fingers to keyboard every so often.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Romance serials. Specifically those ones about novella length that end in cliffhangers. Do you like them? Hate them? Can’t get enough of them?

I’d love to know your thoughts as I slog through my own attempt.

Peace
Tabs xx
